Puerto Princessa

Manila > Palawan > Puerto Princessa

PALAWAN is a long narrow island that defines the north western edge of the Sulu Sea.

From Wikipedia: Palawan Island is the largest island of the Palawan ProvincePhilippines. It is still very undeveloped and traditional. Abundant wildlife, jungle mountains, and white sandy beaches.

Palawan was rated by National Geographic Traveler magazine as the best island destination in East and Southeast Asia region in 2007, and the 13th best island in the world having "incredibly beautiful natural seascapes and landscapes".  And this author would add, "Maybe the most beautiful place I've ever been to." but that's getting ahead of ourselves.

Flying into Palawan.

Destination: Puerto Princessa.  Principle city of Palawan Island and capital city of Palawan Province.  About an hour from Manila by jet.  Light years from Los Angeles.  The captain sets the plane down and welcomes us to paradise.

When you come to Palawan don't book a room and don't make plans.  It will all happen for you.  Promise.  Everywhere you look is a photo opportunity.  Any place you go to is an adventure.  Rooms are abundant.  And nice.  And if I told you how much it cost you wouldn't believe me so...

Sit back and relax.

First recommendation of this blog.  If you want a delicious dinner (like maybe the most delicious dinner you've ever had in your life), next time try "Bilao at Palayok"

Located on Rizal avenue in Puerto Princessa, Palawan, this place is amazing.  The entire restaurant is plants and bamboo.  With cozy little nipa huts and lovely ponds filled with golden koi.

The pork sisig is delicious (upper right dish on the picture below).  Come to think of it everything at Balao at Palawok is delicious.

It's Friday night and Rizal Avenue is alive with a street fair!
